Seosan, Korea 2026
Project Scope:
The project proposes the transformation of a former school site in Jigok-myeon, Seosan into a creative arts village. It includes the design of exhibition spaces, artist studios, art storage, and an education center, integrated with outdoor spaces for exhibitions and public events.
Project Concept:
The concept of the project is “솔직 (Sol Jik/松織),” which emphasizes expressing the inherent beauty of the site and its environmental and social context. The design seeks to embrace the natural landscape of the Naepo–Seosan region as it is, while exposing the tectonic logic of a hybrid timber and concrete structure, as well as the intrinsic qualities of natural materials. Materials, structures, and the layering of spatial compositions are articulated in a clear and straightforward manner, allowing the process of building to become a key architectural language.
